About SOFA Project
Named from the acronym to Shift Old Furniture Around, 'SOFA' (as the charity is more usually known) collects good quality furniture and appliances from local households and businesses. The SOFA Project operates in the area formerly known as Avon, with headquarters in West St, Old Market. We collect household furniture and appliances from households on a daily basis. The items are brought back to our premises, and in the case of electrical appliances fully refurbished, before being made available at a low a price as possible in our retail outlets. These can then be delivered to the new owners.
Meet Our New Operations Manager
Congratulations to Steve Orman on his promotion to Operations Manager at SOFA Project.
Steve started working for SOFA Project in December 2010; before that he was a self-employed driving instructor (very handy!) and his varied career includes various roles at IKEA, a spell living abroad & working at the Colston Hall in Bristol.
Steve has guided SOFA through our latest renewal of our Environment Agency licence- thanks Steve!- and is now responsible for steering operations at our electrical warehouse at Days Lane & our Silverthorne Lane warehouse in St Phillips where our SOFA Business arm (selling reused office furniture) and fledgling online sales arm are based. Pop in to Silverthorne Lane (open to the public for sales) from 8-4pm Monday to Friday, and some Saturdays to see Steve and his team working hard to improve the world of reuse"
